What is Justified: City Primeval about?
Ryalan Givens is back on the job, which is welcome news for TV crime show fans. FX and Hulu have just released the first full trailer for Justified: City Primeval, a sequel series to the beloved FX hit with Timothy Olyphant reprising his role as Givens in a new dark tale. Find out more here!
Premiering in 2010, Justified was based on the novels by Elmore Leonard, focusing on Raylan Givens, a U.S. marshal whose attitude is straight out of the Old West but clashes with the modern times. The show had Raylan sent to his old hometown in Kentucky for a dark ride involving various crooks, including his former childhood friend (Walton Goggins).
The show was a hit running for six seasons and wrapped up with Raylan moving on with a new life. Now, he’s back in a new setting, but the same attitude that can get him in trouble.
What is Justified: City Primeval about?
Picking up eight years after the end of the original series, this limited series has Givens being assigned to Detroit to aid in tracking down a drug kingpin. Raylan is reluctant as he wants to bond more with his daughter, Willa (played by Olyphant’s real-life daughter Vivian). He takes her on the trip, naturally clashing with the local cops.
Raylan is assigned to help hunt down Clement Mansell (Boyd Holbrook), aka The Oklahoma Wildman, a crook who’s thwarted the Detroit cops for years. As the two begin a cat-and-mouse game, Clement also targets Willa, pushing Raylan into a dangerous spot protecting his daughter while risking his career.
Who stars in Justified: City Primeval?
Barring any surprise cameos, it appears Olyphant is the only cast member returning for the new series. The supporting cast includes his real daughter Vivian as Willa and Holbrook as Mansell. Aunjanue Ellis is a lawyer caught between them and Tony Award winner Norbert Leo Butz plays a local crook.
