The Rookie Season 6 will not premiere on ABC in June 2023
We are more than ready to see what comes next in The Rookie Season 6. When will the season premiere on ABC? Will it be in 2023?
With the way things ended in The Rookie Season 5 finale, we need a new episode right now. There hasn’t been a new episode since the finale aired on Tuesday, May 2, and we’re not going to get one for some time. The question of Thorsen’s life hangs in the balance.
That’s right; we will not have a new episode of The Rookie Season 6 in June 2023. That’s not surprising considering it’s the summer. The broadcast networks don’t air their biggest shows this time of year. That would be a death sentence with the way the linear ratings drop. Instead, we’ll have to wait until at least the fall.
When will The Rookie Season 6 premiere on ABC?
We have further bad news. ABC has decided not to put The Rookie Season 6 on the fall schedule. It’s not because of the show’s performance, though. There are no scripted shows on the fall schedule at all.
This is due to the current work action. The writers are on strike, which means productions can’t start up. ABC is planning for the worst by bringing in a fully unscripted lineup to the fall schedule. We’ll then likely get a fully scripted lineup in the midseason.
It is going to affect the length of the seasons. Expect shorter seasons, much like what the pandemic year brought us and what the 2008–2009 year brought us. This can’t be helped to keep things on track for the following year.
Will other networks end up following ABC’s example? FOX hasn’t even shared the full schedule yet, but it looks likely on that front. FOX held off big shows in the pandemic year. CBS and NBC show no signs of changing plans just yet.
