Adapted by Oscar-winning screenwriter Akiva Goldsman (A Beautiful Mind), the mini-series is inspired by the non-fiction novel The Minds of Billy Milligan. That involved the first man to ever be found not guilty in court by claiming multiple personality disorder.
This story fictionalizes the events, focused on Danny Sullivan, who was arrested in 1979 in New York after a shooting. Psychiatrist Rya Goodwin is assigned to talk to Danny and find out what happened. As she does, she begins to unravel that much of Danny’s past may only exist in his delusions, and the search for answers can lead to some intriguing new mysteries.

Who stars in The Crowded Room?
The big star of the show is Tom Holland as the actor famous for playing Spider-Man in the MCU tackles the role of Billy, who has to face some of his past isn’t what he thought it was. Fresh off her multiple award-winning role in The Dropout, Amanda Seyfried plays Rya. Emmy Rossum is Candy Sulivan, Billy’s mom, with the supporting cast including Will Chase, Sasha Lane, and Christopher Abbott.
