Is Rising in Darkness based on a true story?
Truth is stranger and scarier than fiction at times. What about the Riding in Darkness story? Does that have an element of truth to it?
There are a lot of TV shows that are based on true stories. That’s especially the case when you get to crime dramas. It’s scary to think that there are so many monsters out there in the world. Most of them, we can’t tell what they are until it’s too late.
Having these dramas based on true stories is important. They allow us to understand what happened to the victims and learn how the monsters were caught. We also get a chance to see what to look out for in case we’re ever in that situation.
What about Riding in Darkness, the eight-part series on Viaplay? Is that just a fictional story, or is there some truth to it?
Riding in Darkness has a true story
This is a series that’s based on real events. It follows the story of Tommy Lund, an equestrian coach who managed to bring his students to greatness. On the outside, he was the perfect “good guy.” That’s not who he was behind closed doors, though.
From the early ’90s to 2016, Tommy was able to get away with numerous sexual assaults on his students. It wasn’t until he took on Molly as a student. Molly was an underprivileged girl with nothing to lose. When she became his latest victim and found out that her friends were just too scared to speak out, she decided to confront him.
It took her 20 years to win the case. However, it was worth the fight.
In the end, it turned out that the students weren’t the only ones facing abuse and horrors. Tommy’s wife Lotta and their daughters Victoria and Agnes were also victims of the monster. They had to find the courage to speak up against the man.
Riding in Darkness is available to stream in full on Viaplay.
