What is Cannes Confidential about?
Few things are as fun as a crime show set in an exotic locale. It’s also fun to have one with two mismatched partners. Acorn TV is going to be providing both with a new show that mixes fun on the French Riviera with some great crime cases and an engaging couple in Cannes Confidential.
Most people associate Cannes with the annual film festival, but it’s also a fantastic resort town, home to some of the rich and famous in Europe. So when a crime is committed, the optics alone warrant the police force trying to solve a case.
Camille Delmasse is a tough detective who’s fighting from being under the shadow of her father, once Chief of Police, before he was arrested for corruption. Camille is convinced her father is innocent and keeps trying to prove it amid her cases.
One case leads Camille to run into Harry King, a supposed high-roller who turns out to be a con man. Despite that, Camille realizes Harry does have some skills in knowing how criminals operate, so the pair form an unlikely partnership solving robberies and murders across the city. At the same time, Harry may be the key to Camille finally proving her father’s innocence.
The show will focus not just on the glitzy side of Cannes but the working class often ignored by the world, from the docks to shops. It also has hints of shows like Remington Steele, with the banter of the detective and con artist hiding a clear attraction to each other as they solve crimes in style.

Who stars in Cannes Confidential?
French TV actress Lucie Lucas, a star of shows such as Glory, plays Camille. Harry is played by Jamie Bamber, best known for his role as Apollo on Battlestar Galactica and Law & Order: UK. Jean-Hughes Anglade plays Camille’s imprisoned father.

When does Cannes Confidential air?
The show premieres with two episodes on Monday, June 26, on Acorn TV. After that, each week has two more episodes, with the Season 1 finale on July 10.
