ABC made some bulk decisions in May about TV shows on the bubble. Was The Rookie: Feds one of them? Will we see a second season?
As the May Upfronts took over, the networks needed to make some final decisions. ABC had a fair few shows on the bubble, including The Rookie spin-off, The Rookie: Feds.
Was it good news for the series? Will we get to see more of Neicy Nash play the oldest rookie in the FBI? There is some bad news, but not the most terrible news yet.
Is The Rookie: Feds Season 2 happening at ABC?
ABC is still to make a decision about the freshman series. This is virtually unheard of, but it looks like the writers strike is disrupting a few things. Since none of the scripted shows are coming back in fall 2023, ABC has time to make some final decisions instead of rushing them.
Neicy Nash doesn’t know if she’ll be back yet. TVLine reports that she has pointed out that she’s one of the most sought-after actresses right now. That was in the article about the show being on the bubble, and it’s true. So, if ABC wants to keep her, they will need to act fast.
The good news is Nash is interested in returning. She enjoys the series and would like to do a second season. Will she do more than that? Well, I guess that depends on how much fun the show continues to be for her. Again, she’s sought after!
It’s not clear when ABC will make some final decisions. We may need to wait until the fall as ABC looks to solidify some of the midseason plans. It could also depend on the writers strike and whether the actors go on strike in July, as that could affect midseason plans as well as fall schedules.
The Rookie: Feds is available to stream on Hulu.
