The Rookie Season 6 is not coming to ABC in July 2023

We are ready for our favorite shows to return, but there’s some bad news when it comes to The Rookie Season 6. We have a long wait on our hands.

We are more than ready to get answers to our burning questions. The Rookie Season 5 left us iwth a major cliffhanger. Will Thorsen make it out alive?

The good news is that we know we will eventually get answers. ABC has renewed the cop dramedy for a sixth season. Now eyes are on when we’ll get to see the new season. What we know right now is that we won’t get to see it in July 2023.

Even without the writers strike, we wouldn’t expect a July premiere date. This is the time of year the linear ratings take a fall so the broadcast networks take some time off from the big shows.

When will The Rookie Season 6 premiere on ABC?

We on;ty have to wait until the fall, though, right? This is where there is a lot more bad news, and this bad news is because of the strike.

ABC opted for a strike-proof fall schedule. There are no scripted shows on the schedule at all. It’s all made up of dating shows, dance shows, and game shows. We’ll have to wait a while for any of the scripted shows to return. This includes The Rookie.

We’ll get to see The Rookie Season 6 at some point in 2024. This could be as early as January, but it’s going to depend on how the strike goes and whether the actors join in too. Nobody is going back to work until a fair deal is reached, and I stand with the writers even though it means waiting for some of my favorite shows to come back.

The season will be shorter than others due to the delayed wait. It’ll be worth it for the writers and the industry as a whole, though.
