SWAT Season 7 is not coming to CBS in July 2023
After some back and forth on whether SWAT Season 7 would even happen, now we’re looking at when the final season will premiere on CBS.
For a while, we worried about SWAT. In fact, CBS canceled the show but three days later renewed it. The noise fans made, thanks to Shemar Moore encouraging it on social media, got CBS to reconsider things and work out a deal with Sony.
It does come with the bad news that SWAT Season 7 is going to be the last. It will also only have 13 episodes. The good thing is that fans get the closure they deserve.
So now the eyes are on when the final season will premiere. This is where we have some bad news in that it’s not arriving this month. That shouldn’t be too surprising when you consider no season of the series has premiered in July. This is the time of year for big shows to take a break.
When will SWAT Season 7 premiere on CBS?
In some good news, CBS has decided to put SWAT back on the fall schedule. It will remain on Fridays at 8 p.m., kicking off a night of drama.
That means a September or early October premiere date, right? That’s the way it’s worked in the past. Well, this is where we end up with some bad news. The writers are still on strike and now production is definitely delayed. Filming had to start in July for a September or October premiere date. That’s not happening now.
Will we need to wait until 2024? It all depends on how long the strike goes on. There is a chance, but it looks like CBS is still looking at some sort of staggered start as shows become ready instead of pushing all scripted programming to 2024.
SWAT is available to stream on Paramount+.
