It’s almost the end of the road for The Blacklist. This week sees the penultimate episode of the long-running series, which might finally bring the Task Force’s dirty secret to life. What can happen on the road to the end?

The latest episode of The Blacklist had Red waking the Task Force up to warn them someone was going to steal a top-secret file on America’s nuclear missile sites. The team was able to stop the theft but faced questions on just where they got their information.

The team’s search led them to a secret spy operation working right out of the U.S. Capitol. Their search uncovered a vast operation that Dembe realized was Red’s own intelligence network. That had the team realizing the fake company scandal they busted up a few episodes back was also Red’s doing, and he was having the team take apart his own empire.

Meeting Cooper, Red did one of his usual quirky stories to lay out how he was tired and ready to close things down. As usual, Cooper had no idea what Red was really up to.

Meanwhile, Congressman Hudson got closer to the Task Force. He forced Pritchard to get a tap on Ressler’s phone as he got a warrant for a wiretap. As bad luck would have it, Hudson overheard Cooper basically confess to the FBI enabling the world’s most wanted criminal for over a decade, giving him all the ammo needed to take them down.

This sets up a wild new episode this week that paves the way for the series finale.

The episode is titled “Arthur Hudson,” meaning the Congressman is the target. The big question is if Hudson uses his tape with the Attorney General or goes right to the press with it. Either way, Cooper is likely to be in the hot seat trying to defend the FBI for aiding Reddington all these years.

The subplot looks to be Red tying up some loose ends, so we may see the return of a couple of past faces. It appears the show is set for a huge two-hour finale, and so this episode of The Blacklist is a must-see for fans.

"Cooper is caught on the defensive when summoned by the Attorney General. Red visits dear friends."

The Blacklist airs Thursdays at 8/7c on NBC and streaming on Peacock.
