Did Poker Face get any Emmy nominations? (Who was nominated?)

Poker Face has been one of 2023’s best new shows, a hit with critics and audiences on Peacock. But did this mystery series manage to score any Emmy nominations? Find out!

Created by Rian Johnson, writer/director of Knives Out, Poker Face is a homage to the TV mystery shows of the 1970s. Natasha Lyonne is Charlie Cale, a poker player who has the ability to somehow always tell when someone is lying. The pilot has Charlie running afoul of a mobster and causing a death. That forces her to go on the run and hide from a hitman (Benjamin Bratt).

As fate would have it, everywhere Charlie goes, she stumbles onto a murder plot. Each episode opens by showing who the killer is and how they do it, and then shows how Charlie enters the storyline and uses her skills to crack the case.

The show has been a success with critics and was renewed for a second season. Now, the Emmys are weighing in on it.

What Emmy nominations did Poker Face score?

As it happens, the 2023 Emmy Award nominations were announced on Wednesday, July 12, and Poker Face nabbed four nominations. The big one is Lyonne, up for Best Lead Actress in a Comedy series. It’s her fifth nomination following three nominations for Russian Doll in 2019 and another for Orange Is the New Black. 

Veteran actress Judith Light was also nominated for Best Female Guest Star in a Comedy Series for her turn as a paralyzed former radical who, with her partner (S. Epatha Merkerson), kills the man who betrayed them both.

The other two nominations are Tom PLace for Best Stunt Work and Judy Rhee for Best Production Design.

Johnson shared his congratulations to the nominees on Twitter.

With Poker Face now an Emmy-nominated series, fans are hopeful this means more fans will enjoy the fun show and root for Lyonne to score an Emmy for her captivating turn.
