Has a decision be made about Coroner Season 5 yet?
Coroner is one of those shows that we’d love to see more of, but it doesn’t look likely. Has a decision been made by CBC yet?
As much as we would love to see more from Jenny Cooper and her team, it’s looking extremely unlikely. CBC hasn’t made an official decision yet, but all signs are pointing to this show being canceled.
Even if the show was renewed, it would have been without Jenny. Serinda Swan made the decision to leave the show after four seasons. That was the main reason for the show’s future being put in question. There was a chance Roger Cross could take over the lead as Detective McAvoy, but it looks like the storylines haven’t been there.
Will Coroner Season 5 happen at The CW?
For The CW to get the series, CBC needs to renew it. This is a Canadian acquisition, and it always airs in Canada first. The bad news is there are a lot of signs that this isn’t going to happen.
Cross was in two episodes of Season 15 as Maurice Majors and he reprised that role for Season 16. Yes, that long-running Canadian drama is coming back for another season and it shows zero signs of slowing down. Could we see Ross reprise the role again? Ross has also filmed a couple of TV movies, including A Snowy Day in Oakland and Dream Moms.
He would be the one to take over the series as the lead with a new female lead likely coming into it. I’m sure a lot of fans would have been happy to see River step up, so we’re looking at Kiley May and what she’s up to. Her most recent production was Soft in 2022, which would open the door for her to return.
