Is Law & Order: SVU Season 25 coming to NBC in 2023?
Is there any chance at all that we’ll be able to see Law & Order: SVU Season 25 in 2023? Here’s a look at potential plans for the year.
When Law & Order: SVU was renewed, we quickly learned that it would be with a slightly shorter season. All Dick Wolf shows were being cut a little for cost reasons, but now it looks like the seasons will be even shorter.
NBC wanted to bring the Thursday night drama back in the fall, but there was one issue at the time: the writers strike. That strike is still an issue, and now there’s another one thrown in. The actors are also on strike.
When will Law & Order: SVU Season 25 come to NBC?
It doesn’t look like a 2023 premiere date is going to be possible for the season. Some networks had planned for this, but NBC was sure it could get shows back at some point this fall. However, with the actors also on strike, there are more issues with getting production started. Even if the writers went back to their rooms, production wouldn’t be able to start until the writers were working again.
Anything that is in post-production is also on hold. ADR and re-shoots can’t happen. That means it’s really only anything that had completed production that will be able to air this year. We’re expecting this strike action to continue for much longer.
The earliest we’re probably looking at Law & Order: SVU Season 25 to premiere is in January 2024. Even then, it’s possible that the show will need to be pushed to the midseason. All eyes are on the strike action that’s happening. Only once that ends will we know when we can expect to see shows to return to our screens.
Law & Order: SVU is available to stream on Peacock.
