As the summer drags on, we have concerns about our favorite dramas. Could we see CBS cancel The Equalizer? Is Season 4 still going to happen?
We didn’t think anything could be more disruptive than COVID-19 to the TV industry. Then the WGA strike happened in May 2023. It was combined with the directors strike at first, but they quickly formed a deal. Now, we have the actors on strike. Even if the writers strike a deal, production will be on pause until the actors are back to work.
It’s going to be a long summer. Fall TV is going to be nothing like we’re used to, especially when it comes to the scripted fare. It comes to questions about whether The Equalizer and others will end up canceled?
CBS hasn’t canceled The Equalizer just yet
During the pandemic, we saw a move where networks and streamers canceled shows that had needed to halt production. Netflix’s The Society and ABC’s Stumptown were among the list of “unrenewals” that year. With the strike continuing, there are many understandably concerned that we’ll see something similar happen.
CBS has confirmed its fall schedule now. It won’t consist of the regular scripted programs after all. The Equalizer and more are being pushed to 2024. They have not been canceled just yet.
Out of all the shows on CBS, The Equalizer is one of the safest. This is a series with a strong and loyal following. Despite Sundays being a tricky night due to the football, it continues to perform as one of the strongest scripted shows on the network. Even with the delays, CBS would be ridiculous to cancel it.
That’s good news for fans as the series ended on a cliffhanger with the third season finale. We need to know if Dante, Mel, and Henry will get out of dodge.
The Equalizer is available to stream on Paramount+.
