Gibbs left NCIS during the 19th season. This was Mark Harmon’s decision, and it was done with some closure. When is the last Gibbs episode?

I saw Gibbs’s exit came with some closure because it wasn’t complete closure for all the characters on the series. However, if you know Gibbs well, you know that he has never been at peace since the deaths of his wife and daughter. The Alaska storyline that came up in the 19th season of the series offered Gibbs a little bit of peace, and that means some closure.

As we go into this lengthy break, it’s important to know when Gibbs exits. Maybe you fell behind on the show and now you’re ready to catch up, or maybe you want to rewatch the exit episode to see if there’s something you missed. When does it happen?

When Gibbs left NCIS

We learned going into the 19th season that it would be the last for Mark Harmon. What we didn’t know was how many episodes we would get with Gibbs still as the leader of the team. What we ended up getting was a four-episode arc that gave us an exit that was actually relatively fitting for the character.

After everything that happened in the Season 18 finale, Gibbs had to figure out who he could trust. Fortunately, the team went out looking for him, but Gibbs ended up being a suspect, which brought in Gary Cole’s Alden Parker.

The storyline took Gibbs and McGee to Alaska, which was where Gibbs found peace during the fourth episode of the season. As McGee went back to Washington D.C., Gibbs decided to stay in Alaska. Parker received a call from Fornell to encourage him to not take Gibbs back to Washington D.C. in handcuffs.

If you want to see it all play out, you’ll need to watch up to NCIS Season 19, Episode 4.

NCIS is available to stream on Paramount+.
