A lot of shows are now based on a book. Is that the case for the new thriller coming to BritBox? Is The Ex-Wife based on a book?

Doesn’t it seem like a lot of shows and movies are now based on books? We see it a lot whether it’s fantasy, crime dramas, and more. Just look at the likes of The Wheel of Time, any of the Harlan Coben shows, and Bosch.

There’s a new series coming to BritBox. Well, this is new to the United States. The Ex-Wife debuted in the UK back in October 2022. Canadians have also had a chance to watch the four-episode limited series on CBC Gem. It’s certainly worth the watch, but as you get into details of it, you may feel like you’ve heard of the story somewhere.

The Ex-Wife is based on a book by Jess Ryder

This is another show that has source material out there. The Ex-Wife is based on the book of the same name by Jess Ryder. The storyline is pretty much the same, which will be great for fans of the novel.

The story follows Tasha, Jack’s second wife and mother of his only daughter Emily. Tasha thinks that she has it all. While Jack’s family pushes her out a little, she still has the man, the house, and the child.

That is until her world starts falling apart. You see, Jack’s first wife is still in the picture. Jen is still friends with the family, and it’s clear that the family isn’t happy about Tasha being the affair partner—who would like that? Tasha thinks that Jen is the problem and is a danger to her family, but what if it isn’t Jen at all? What if there is someone else who is a threat, and it’s much closer to home?
