After some back and forth, the good news is that SWAT Season 7 is happening. The bad news is that we won’t get it this month.
Eyes are on when our favorite shows will return. At one point, we were worried we wouldn’t get SWAT Season 7 at all. CBS opted to cancel the show abruptly, leading to fans crying out for more on social media. Shemar Moore also took to Twitter to share how unhappy he was about the decision.
That led to a quick U-turn on the decision. The series will be back for a seventh and final season. It will only have 13 episodes, but when will those episodes air?
As a fall show, we knew that an August release date wasn’t going to be the case. Why would CBS want to bring one of its bigger shows out in the summer and affect the live ratings for the final season? That should mean a September or October start, right?
When will SWAT Season 7 premiere on CBS?
The series was originally planned for the fall. CBS wanted to keep Fridays the same until the final season ran its course. Then plans changed in July.
CBS had to release an updated fall schedule based on the actors going on strike. With both actors and writers on strike, there is no production and that means the seventh season isn’t ready to air. The good news is that it’s not alone. No scripted shows are airing, so CBS isn’t just going to suddenly cancel things. That doesn’t make sense.
The earliest we’ll see SWAT Season 7 is in January 2024. This will depend on when the actors and writers go back to work. The longer that takes, the longer we’ll see this delay. We’ll be sure to keep an eye on things to let you know when we can likely expect the season.
SWAT is available to stream on Paramount+.
