What is Painkiller about?
You know about the real opioid crisis, right? Well, Netflix has a series that is going to tell us a fictionalized story of it. It’s all about Painkiller.
There is absolutely no way of avoiding anything about the opioid crisis. You likely know someone who has been a victim of it, and usually, it’s completely unintentional. OxyContin is one of the most addictive drugs, and it’s time to find out why and what’s being done about it.
Painkiller is a limited series that fictionalizes the story. While it’s fictional, it doesn’t take away from the very serious problem. What it does is shine a light on how Oxy came about, and whether there is anything that can be done to help deal with the situation at hand.
What is Painkiller on Netflix about?
The Netflix limited series follows perpetrators, victims, and truth-seekers through a fictionalized retelling of the start of the opioid crisis. It follows lives that were completely altered after the creation of OxyContin.
This is about bringing accountability to those who created it. Matthew Broderick plays the head of a pharmaceutical company that has created this drug that cures pain. Broderick’s character knows that people would prefer to live without pain, and he doesn’t care about how addictive the stuff is. Why wouldn’t people choose pleasure? Of course, he’s going to do whatever he can to line his pockets.
However, victims and the families of victims want answers. An investigator decides she’s going to figure out what’s going on and see if this pharmaceutical company can be held accountable for its actions. The question is whether a crime has even been committed.
