By this point, we usually know when our favorite crime dramas will return to broadcast networks. That’s not the case this year. Has FBI been canceled?

We would love to know when our favorite shows are coming back. This year isn’t like traditional years, though. While CBS initially planned for a regular fall, it quickly became clear that wasn’t going to be possible.

We know we will get some reruns of the Dick Wolf series throughout the fall, but the sixth season isn’t happening yet. The writers and actors remain on strike, and we’re not going to get our favorite shows back until January 2024 at the earliest at this point.

Could we end up seeing shows canceled as the delays continue, though? Will FBI Season 6 still happen at CBS?

FBI Season 6 is still likely to happen at CBS

Don’t worry about this series being canceled. We won’t likely see the broadcast networks “unrenew” shows the way they did during the pandemic. This is because there is still a chance for the unscripted content to run.

This Dick Wolf show is one of the most popular shows on the network out of all scripted dramas. Why would CBS even risk losing revenue by “unrenewing” it. As soon as the writers and actors are able to get back to work, they will do, and we’ll see this series as one of those worked on right away.

What we could see is a much shorter season than normal. The writers rooms will need to be back by Labor Day weekend if there’s hope in a 13-episode season. Otherwise, we could end up seeing a 10-episode season or something shorter. We’ll have to see how things play out as negotiations with the WGA, SAG-AFTRA, and the studios continue.

FBI is available to stream on Paramount+.
