We have a lot of questions with the way NCIS Season 20 ended. The biggest one right now is whether we’ll get any answers. Is the series canceled?

With all the strike action going on at the moment, it’s normal to be worried about your favorite shows. Could it get to the point where the networks are canceling shows? After all, we saw renewed shows canceled during the pandemic, including the likes of The Society and Stumptown.

This isn’t anything like the pandemic, though. When it came to the pandemic, nothing could film for a while. All studios had to figure out the way of managing things, whether it was for a scripted or unscripted show. Now, it’s just the scripted shows that can’t go ahead due to the strike action. This could help.

NCIS Season 21 is still happening

As of writing this, NCIS Season 21 is still going to happen. It doesn’t make sense for CBS to cancel the series. While it is no longer the top-performer on the network, it is still a strong show in terms of live ratings. It’s also strong in syndication.

What also helps is that it is a strong show on Mondays up against Monday Night Football. The 9 p.m. ET/PT timeslot on Mondays was a struggling one in the past. CBS took a risk by moving this Tuesday night drama to Mondays, but it worked well. It became a stronger performer than shows in the past, and it remains that way.

If CBS wants to create more spin-offs, it will need the flagship series. If any of the NCIS shows were going to be canceled, it would be Hawaii first. However, there are shows performing lower than these two crime dramas on the network that CBS would likely look at first.

NCIS is available to stream on Paramount+.
