Tony DiNozzo is certainly a favorite for many NCIS fans. Is there a chance that we’ll see him back in NCIS Season 21?
There aren’t many OG characters left in NCIS. In fact, David McCallum’s Ducky remains as the only OG character as McGee wasn’t part of the original group in the series premiere. He didn’t turn up until a few episodes later and wasn’t initially a series regular! Ducky isn’t even in that many episodes.
Tony DiNozzo left the series at the end of the 13th season. He’s been mentioned since, but we haven’t seen him. Michael Weatherly made the choice to leave as he wanted to do something different. And something different he certainly did. He landed the lead in his own series, Bull.
Now that Bull has come to an end, eyes are on whether we could see Weatherly return to the series that arguably made him famous. Yes, he was on Dark Angel before it, but most people know him because of NCIS.
Will Michael Weatherly be in NCIS Season 21?
As of right now, we have no idea what could happen in NCIS Season 21. Neither to the writers. They didn’t get back to work due to the writers strike, and now eyes are on how long the strike will go on for.
That being said, there have been no signs that Weatherly is going to return to the series with the end of Bull. We could, of course, see it happen as a surprise in a similar way to Ziva’s return. All eyes are simply on what to expect.
With the way Tony was written out, it’s certainly possible that he could return. We’ve love to see what he and Ziva are up to now that they get a chance to be together with their daughter.
NCIS is available to stream on Paramount+.
