Chicago PD Season 11: Will Lisseth Chavez return as Vanessa Rojas?

As fans await the return of Chicago PD for Season 11, there are questions if some past characters can return. That includes Vanessa Rojas, played by Lisseth Chavez. Is it possible this brief team member could return in Season 11?

Season 7 of Chicago PD had an early episode where Atwater goes undercover to get a line on some gun smugglers. He befriended a waitress who helped set up a deal. When the Intelligence Unit swung in, they discovered the “dealers” were undercover cops themselves.

The waitress was Vanessa Rojas, plucked right out of the police academy to take part in this job. Impressed by her grit and talent, Voight got her transferred to fill a spot in the Intelligence Unit. While young, Rojas showed some good instincts to help the team. She’d had a rough life, growing up in dozens of foster homes, and was even homeless when she joined the team with Upton letting her room with her for a while.

Rojas was clicking on the team, including some chemistry with Atwater, when Season 7 was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic. When Season 8 premiered, not only was Rojas gone with no explanation, but she was never referenced, as if she’d never been part of the team at all.

So could Rojas make some sort of return for Season 11?

After leaving Chicago PD, Lisseth Chavez joined the cast of Legends of Tomorrow. She now stars on ABC’s The Rookie, making the chances of her also appearing on Chicago PD tricky.

It would be nice to have Rojas appear just for one episode to explain if she’s still in the Chicago PD and what she’s up to. If nothing else, the character deserves some closure rather than being so weakly written off, and it’d be fun to see Chavez be on two cop shows at the same time.
