What’s next for Kim Burgess in Chicago PD Season 11?
Chicago PD Season 11 is currently in limbo thanks to conditions in Hollywood. That leaves a question of how Kim Burgess will handle some huge turns. What can be in store for Marina Squerciati’s dedicated officer in the new year?
A subplot of Chicago PD Season 10 was Burgess still dealing with her near-fatal shooting back in Season 8. While she had bounced back as a foster mom to young Milayka, Burgess still felt the trauma haunting her. That came up majorly in the show’s 200th episode, where Burgess was trapped in a submerged subway car, allowing her to finally handle what happened to her.
Burgess also navigated her complex relationship with on/off lover Adam Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger). While living together, they hadn’t made the big step, both unsure of it given their dangerous jobs.
The Season 10 finale had Adam’s undercover assignment going badly as he was shot and badly wounded. It ended with Burgess at Adam’s side, ready to be there for him.
What can happen to Burgess in Chicago PD Season 11?
With Season 11 held off due to the strikes across Hollywood, it won’t be until 2024 that Chicago PD returns. The show may do a small time jump to show Adam out of the hospital with Burgess, knowing exactly what he’s going through, helping him recover from his trauma.
A question remains if the pair will decide to make a big jump in their relationship given their long history. Burgess will continue to balance life as a cop and mother, so becoming a wife may not be in the cards for her yet.
Whatever happens, Burgess is likely to keep going with her tough drive and make Season 11 of Chicago PD another top year for the drama.
Chicago PD is now streaming on Peacock.
