We got some great news earlier this year in that Will Trent Season 2 is happening. When will we get to see the new season premiere on ABC?

When ABC renewed Will Trent for a second season, we were very happy. Of course, immediately, there were questions about when the show would premiere. The first season was a midseason show, but would we see the series move to the fall for the second season?

ABC’s fall schedule begins this month. The bad news is that Will Trent Season 2 is not one of the shows premiering. So, when could we expect to see it arrive?

When is the Will Trent Season 2 premiere on ABC?

At this point, we can’t share much except that Will Trent Season 2 will arrive sometime in 2024. It’s not that ABC wanted to hold the show for the midseason again, but that the network had no choice. All scripted shows have been pushed to 2024.

What’s going on? This is due to the strike action in Hollywood. The writers went on strike in May 2023. While CBS and NBC hoped for a normal fall, ABC preempted a long strike. That meant a strike-proof fall schedule made up of unscripted programming. It was a good call as the actors went on strike in July and other networks have to pivot to a strike-proof fall without the plan for a full lineup of unscripted programming.

We don’t know when Will Trent and other shows will be able to premiere next year, though. This all depends on when the strike action comes to an end, and the studios haven’t been the best at negotiating anything. We’ll keep an eye on the strike updates to get an idea as to when scripted programming will be back.
