SWAT Season 7 not coming to CBS in September 2023
There was a bit of back and forth about whether SWAT Season 7 would happen, but now we know that it is. When will the final season premiere?
SWAT Season 7 is officially happening. Initially, it was canceled, but then the uproar from fans led to CBS reversing the decision and renewing it for a seventh and final season. The season will be 13 episodes long. At least, that’s the initial plan.
Things may change, though. The initial plan was for the series to be part of the fall lineup. However, Season 7 will not premiere this month. Nor will it premiere in October. There is a lot in limbo at the moment, and not just for this Shemar Moore cop drama.
When will SWAT Season 7 premiere on CBS?
We don’t yet know when the season will premiere. The earliest to expect it is in January 2024. Very few scripted shows are premiering in the fall due to production being halted. SWAT didn’t even start production.
The writers went on strike in May and the actors joined the strike action in July. Producion of all WGA and SAG-AFTRA projects is now on hold, and that means we don’t get our usual fall lineups. CBS had to change its plans in July, bringing some streaming shows to the linear networks for the first time.
There is still a chance that a January 2024 premiere date is possible. That window is closing, though. Could we end up seeing the final season given fewer episodes? Well, it is possible that CBS will stick to 13 episodes for SWAT Season 7. While other shows will likely see a reduced episode count to ensure May finales, SWAT could run into the summer months without too much of a hassle with it being the final season.
SWAT is available to stream on Paramount+.
