Fans of NCIS and NCIS: Hawaii are not happy the ongoing strikes across Hollywood are preventing those shows from going forward. Thankfully, there will be some NCIS this fall after all, as CBS will premiere NCIS: Sydney, a new spin-off that has co-production from Australian television. When does it air? The trailer for the new series is out.
With so much potential in an NCIS spin-off, it should be no shock that, eventually, an international version would be produced. Already announced in June, NCIS: Sydney is a co-production with Endemol Shine Australia for CBS Studios and Paramount Australia, and distributed outside Australia by Paramount Global Content Distribution. It now appears CBS will be using this for a special boost for the network this fall.
NCIS: Sydney trailer
The NCIS: Sydney trailer showcases the setup as a team of NCIS agents head to Australia to investigate a crime. They clash with the Australian Federal Police (AFP) for jurisdiction and the higher-ups decide the only way to settle it is for the teams to work together in a special task force.
Thus, the Aussies help the Americans get used to a different style of crime that showcases the action of Australia from the coasts to its vast plains as they take on everything from smuggling to terrorism.
"“With rising international tensions in the Indo-Pacific, a brilliant and eclectic team of U.S. NCIS agents and the Australian Federal Police (AFP) are grafted into a multinational taskforce to keep naval crimes in check in the most contested patch of ocean on the planet.”"
