NCIS: Hawaii fans are eager to see what Season 3 can have in store for its main characters, especially Jane Tennant. So what can be next for Vanessa Lachey’s tough leader in the new year?
NCIS: Hawaii Season 2 kicked off in a wild way for Jane and she had to aid NCIS agent Torres on a case involving a spy ring planning a terrorist attack. That set a tone for Jane handling various cases across Hawaii and often clashing with other agencies along the way.
Jane also had issues at home as her son Alex began acting up, from an older girlfriend to bad behavior at school. When Alex wanted to join the Naval Academy, Jane had to wrestle with whether or not to let him go or avoid this dangerous life. Jane also handled herself in the big crossover with NCIS and NCIS: Los Angeles.
A thrilling episode had Jane trying to survive in the jungle after a helicopter crash. The final episodes of the season had Jane’s past coming to haunt her with a former spy hunting her down. Jane was forced to free her traitorous mentor Maggie Shaw from prison to help her. A wild gunfight ended with the spy dead but Maggie fleeing.
So, with all that drama in Season 2, what can the next year have in store for Jane?
What can happen to Jane in NCIS: Hawaii Season 3?
The final episodes had Henry Ian Cusick as John Swift, a supervisory agent taking issues with Jane’s style. Swift was shown talking to someone that Jane’s team was good but needed a guiding hand. That hints at the arrival of NCIS: Los Angeles agent Sam Hana (LL Cool J), who can help out.
But it also indicates the higher-ups are concerned about Jane’s maverick style. The fact she broke a spy out of prison and then let her escape is likely to cause some blowback on Jane, perhaps even a demotion. While Jane is respected by her team, her superiors may think she’s going too far.
There’s also Jane handling Alex leaving home for a life in the Navy and still figuring out her romantic life. Between the challenges to her leadership and her personal life facing changes, Season 3 should be a big one for Jane’s evolution as a team leader.
NCIS: Hawaii is now streaming on Paramount+.
