NCIS Season 20 had some good stuff for Director Leon Vance. Can NCIS Season 21 bring more changes for Rocky Carroll’s character?
For most of NCIS Season 20, Leon Vance was his usual stern self, running control on the often wild squad. That included clashing with his superiors defending Parker when the man was framed for murder and his dry reactions to some of the crazy antics the team got into.
Vance got a big spotlight in an episode when someone broke into his house, and he killed him in self-defense. Worried about Vance’s life being in danger, Parker followed him to a conference in Berlin, where it turned out Vance was romantically involved with an Interpol agent.
Aside from that, Vance was mostly in the office handling everything from a mole hunt to suspending Parker on a case to aiding the team in tackling a dangerous Russian spy ring in the season finale. Can NCIS Season 21 lead to bigger changes?
Could Vance leave in NCIS Season 21?
Fans are still eager to see when NCIS can return as the ongoing strikes in Hollywood are holding off production. The episode of Vance in Berlin was interesting as McGee stepped into the director role and did well with it. This combines with Vance continuing to clash with some of his superiors covering for the team and the fact he’s been at this job for so long.
So, is it possible that Vance might be considering retirement? So far, there’s no word Rocky Carroll is leaving the show, but with production of the next season held up, it’s possible NCIS may want to spark up Season 21 with a big exit. Either way, Vance should hopefully still be around with his usual commanding style, even if it may be the last year.
NCIS is streaming on Paramount+.
