Season 6 of SWAT had some unexpected developments for Dominique Luca. Can SWAT Season 7 bring more changes for Kenny Johnson’s tough cop?

The first episodes of Season 6 had Luca mostly in his usual role of aiding his teammates, from helping rescue a captured Hondo in Thailand to the thrilling missions. He did have a fun subplot worried about Hicks’ health, only to discover Hicks was just getting back into the dating scene again.

Luca was thrown for a loop when he was met by Officer Eva Durant (Kelly Overton), who revealed she was his half-sister. She was the product of an affair Luca’s dad, Carl, had when he was undercover years before. Luca didn’t want to believe it but eventually did, and it wasn’t helped by discovering his brother Terry had known about Eva for years and never told him.

Luca and Eva had a rough new relationship, with Luca wanting to pull strings for her and Eva snapping that she was fine without his help. It was complicated further when Carl had a heart attack, and Eva wanted to meet him at last. Carl was thrown to hear he had a daughter but seemed open to this meeting.

So, with so much change in his life, what can the final season hold for Luca?

What can happen to Luca in SWAT Season 7?

It looked like Season 6 was going to be the end of SWAT, but thankfully, CBS renewed it for a seventh and final season. That’s been delayed due to the ongoing strikes across Hollywood but hopefully coming in 2024.

It’s up in the air what Luca’s status in SWAT Season 7 can be, as he was absent for a few episodes in Season 6 with an explanation of being on another assignment. Hopefully, he and Eva have managed to bond further, and Luca has mended fences with his dad. It’d be good to see him enjoying this newfound family, even if his relationship with Terry remains rough.

If nothing else, Season 7 can be a good way to show Luca in a better place, maybe ready to take up more command and close out his run on SWAT well.

SWAT is streaming on Netflix and Paramount+.
