The Rookie Season 6 is delayed, but it doesn’t stop us from looking at some potential storylines. Will one involve the return of Jackson West?

The Rookie Season 4 premiere delivered a storyline we hated. We lost Jackson West. Titus Makin Jr. had decided it was time to leave the series.

It turns out that he wanted to leave the show in the third season. A lot of that was linked to the BLM movement and the way Black people are treated by law enforcement. Instead of leaving, a storyline was brought in for him to show all this on screen, with his new training officer turning out to be a racist cop and Jackson standing up for what is right.

When he was saved during the season, we stopped worrying too much about him. That made the Season 4 premiere storyline all the more shocking. We watched as Jackson was shot in the back of the head and put into the trunk of a car. To make matters worse, it wasn’t even Makin Jr. on the screen. A stand-in was clearly used for this.

Will Jackson West return in The Rookie Season 6?

It shouldn’t be too surprising knowing all this that there is a very slim chance that we’ll see Titus Makin Jr. return to the series. After all, Jackson is dead, and there’s no way for a show without supernatural elements to realistically bring a dead character back. There is no doubt that this was Jackson’s death, despite it not being Makin Jr. on the screen.

Of course, there are a few ways to bring a dead character back temporarily—and we’re not talking ghosts like Grey’s Anatomy. We could see a character face something difficult and the spirit of Jackson is the one who comes back as their psyche to help them get through it.

Maybe Lucy is put in danger again. With her life on the line, she could see Jackson helping her to get through it. Angela would be another option considering her connection to Jackson throughout the series.

It’s not likely to happen, though. Makin Jr. has shown no signs in being interested in coming back.
