Law & Order: SVU fans are eager to see the new season coming up. But can that mean a return for Kelli Giddish as Amanda Rollins in Law & Order: SVU Season 25? Here’s what we know!

Debuting in the Season 13 premiere, Amanda Rollins was a top detective for the Atlanta PD who moved to New York after a scandal involving her captain. Rollins was good on the job but had problems, mostly notably a gambling addiction that got her into hot water.

Happily, Rollins would recover as she had two daughters and later a relationship with Dominick Carisi (Peter Scanavino). Season 24 opened with Rollins being shot and wounded while protecting a witness. She recovered quickly physically, but the mental and emotional toll was tougher.

Mid-way through Season 24, Rollins and Carisi surprised everyone by getting married at a courthouse. Rollins then accepted a job as a college professor, with Giddish leaving the series. It did seem this was the decision of the producers, not the actress.

Carisi later revealed that Rollins was expecting his child. She returned for a crossover episode with Law & Order: Organized Crime when Stabler went to her for aid on a case. Rollins worked with the team and Benson noted Rollins seemed far more excited on this case, showing she still missed being a cop.

So could this pave the way for Rollins to return?

Can Rollins return for Law & Order: SVU Season 25?

The SVU team could use some blood as new hire Grace Muncy (Molly Burnett) left the team in the Season 24 finale. Bringing back an old hand like Rollins could be a good help.

Of course, an obstacle is Rollins was expecting a child when Season 24 ended. Law & Order: SVU Season 25 would have to do a “time jump” to explain Rollins back on the job fast and that’s assuming she’d want to return.

At the least, it’s possible Rollins makes a cameo to show herself still teaching and the squad celebrating her new child. While a full-time return is unknown as of now, it seems likely Amanda Rollins can make at least a one-episode appearance to spark up Law & Order: SVU’s historic 25th season.
