The Irrational has just started, and the second episode promises a timely story that involves a deadly nerve agent. Here are all The Irrational spoilers for the new episode.

The first episode of The Irrational did a great job in introducing us to the characters. It’s clear that Alec Mercer has a huge backstory to uncover, a backstory that he doesn’t remember. This is interesting considering his study into the mind and behavior.

He knows that memories can be unlocked, and it looks like he wants to unlock them. The question is whether he will be able to do that. We’re sure he will considering it looks like it’s the overarching storyline of the season, but what really happened to him and how will he remember?

The Irrational spoilers: 1×02 synopsis

The synopsis focuses on the individual case of the week that Mercer will nee to help solve. Like with the opening case, Mercer is the one pulled into the case rather than going out to find it, but it’s not by his ex-wife. This is by an old friend (or maybe frenemy?) CJ.

CJ has been infected with a deadly nerve agent. She wants to figure out who did it before she dies, but it’s hard to track when and how she was poisoned. Of course, Mercer is on the case, and he is more than willing to get to the bottom of this. It’s a puzzle for him to solve, and it takes his mind off the other situation at hand.

We know that the man responsible for his burns is up for parole. Mercer needs to be able to remember some details if he wants to prevent that from happening, but he’s about to get a shock when it comes to that certain situation.

"Professor Mercer is approached by his old friend CJ, a prominent investigative journalist who asks for help after she’s poisoned with a rare and deadly nerve agent; with time running out, Mercer pieces together scant clues."
