Nolan’s first training officer was Talia Bishop, but she was only around for one season. Could Afton Williamson return in The Rookie Season 6?
John Nolan’s first training officer didn’t think too much of him at first, but gave him the benefit of the doubt. Talia Bishop helped make Nolan the cop that he is today. She helped mold him into something Nyla Harper could then continue to form.
Bishop’s exit was sudden. That was all due to behind-the-scenes things on The Rookie that made Afton Williamson leave the series. Bishop wasn’t killed off, though. Does that mean that we could see her return?
Will Afton Williamson be in The Rookie Season 6?
Don’t expect to see Bishop back. While we do tend to say never say “never,” a return just isn’t something that we see happening. A lot would need to change, and that’s unlikely to happen.
Williamson left the series in between seasons. She says that she experienced some racial discrimination, bullying, and sexual harassment, and reported all that to showrunner Alexi Hawley. However, the reports were never filed with HR and nothing came of them. It wasn’t dealt with seriously, so she decided to walk.
Williamson left as the second season started filming. She didn’t want to keep herself in that situation. If you’ve been in a job with that sort of situation, you know that no job is really worth it. Williamson was in the position to be able to do something about it by walking away.
There’s no way that we’ll likely see her return to that environment, even for just an episode. It doesn’t matter how much we’d love to see where Bishop is now and what she thinks of how far Nolan has become.
The Rookie is available to stream on Hulu.
