Only Murders in the Building  concluded its third season with the revelation of just who killed Ben Glenroy. So who did it and what shocking turn led to setting up Season 4? Find out here!

Caution: This article contains SPOILERS for the Only Murders in the Building Season 3 finale

Having bailed Loretta out of jail, Charles, Oliver, and Mabel concluded that Donna had killed Ben because she’d seen the early review of him being the weak link in the show and didn’t want to ruin her son Cliff’s first big Broadway show.

Hilariously, Donna ruined the gang’s big recorded confrontation by flat-out confessing to poisoning Ben, but she didn’t mean for it to be fatal, just to take him out of the show. At first, she denied pushing him down the elevator shaft, but when confronted by the handkerchief, she confessed. Dying of cancer, she asked the gang to hold back on turning her in until after the show.

When the leading man got sick, Oliver took over the role instead. Loretta was ready to tell Dickie she was his mother, only to find Dickie already knew.

Who really killed Ben?

Seeing Loretta and Dickie talk about how a mother would do anything for her child, Mabel then saw Donna talking to a crying Cliff and realized the truth. She confronted Cliff, who admitted he had met Ben, who’d figured out what Donna did. Trying to protect his mother, Cliff ended up accidentally shoving Ben down the shaft.

A great parallel had Charles facing Cliff, who imagined Ben on stage facing Loretta. Cliff threatened to jump, only for Donna to stop him as they were both arrested…after getting a standing ovation from the audience.

Who also died in the Only Murders in the Building Season 3 finale?

It looked like it was all wrapped up as the cast came together at Oliver’s place for a party as they read some glowing reviews. Loretta was told she was not only still on track for a TV show but a movie lead, finally her big break. Oliver told her to follow her dreams but hinted he’d like to visit her in Los Angeles. Likewise, Mabel promised to visit Tobert in L.A.

Charles’s body double Sazz (Jane Lynch) showed up to say she needed to talk to Charles just as he got a text from ex-girlfriend Joy on “Scott Bakula says hi.”

The final scene showed what looked like Charles entering a room only to be shot dead. It was then revealed the dead body was actually Sazz.

So the question is, who would want to kill Charles and does this mean the gang is heading to Hollywood in Season 4? It’s a truly killer cliffhanger that makes the wait for Only Murders in the Building Season 4 even bigger.
