The Spencer Sisters spoilers: What to expect in the series premiere (Preview)

The CW is about to unleash a fun new mystery series in The Spencer Sisters this week! Check out the information for the pilot of this new mother-daughter comedy crime-solving show and what the first episode is about!

With the huge changes going around at the CW and the ongoing strikes across Hollywood, the network needs something for the fall seasons. It’s thus been reaching to Canada to acquire a few shows from there. Among them is The Spencer Sisters, which already aired its first 10-episode season in Canada earlier in 2023.

Despite the title, the show isn’t about sisters at all but rather mother and daughter. Darby Spencer (Stacey Farber) is a cop fed up with being ignored by her bosses, so she quits. After finding her boyfriend cheating on her, Darby heads to her hometown, where her mother, Victoria (Lea Thompson), is a famous mystery novelist.

The pair have a tense relationship, not helped by how people mistake them for sisters. But after working on a crime together, Victoria comes up with the idea of opening a private eye agency.

The premiere episode, “The Scholar’s Snafu,” looks to be a typical pilot that sets up the series and puts the girls on their first case. It involves Darby coming to town and helping a friend accused of plagiarism. It will show the relationship of the Spencers and build up to their first case together.

The show looks to be a fun one and this should be a good way for new viewers to get used to one of the few mystery shows on a network this fall.

The Spencer Sisters premieres on Wednesday, Oct. 4 at 9/8c on The CW. It streams the following day on The CW App.
