SWAT Season 6 had a few interesting developments for David “Deacon” Kay. What can SWAT Season 7 bring for Jay Harrington’s veteran officer?

Season 6 started in dramatic fashion as Deacon had to lead the SWAT team trying to rescue a captive Hondo in Thailand and then find the drug lord after them. Deacon was put through a wringer when a civilian was killed in a store shootout and he feared his gun fired the fatal bullet by accident. Thankfully, Deacon wasn’t responsible, but he still felt some guilt over the woman’s death.

The episode “Atonement” was an intriguing one for Deacon as he reconnected with a priest friend while tracking some Russian spies. The man had helped Deacon out of a tough time after his partner’s death and reawakened his faith. It was good to show how Deacon had changed himself.

Deacon also had issues with his kids, with his son Matty fighting a kid at school who insulted cops. Meanwhile, his daughter Lila had wanted to quit soccer, Deacon not liking it but admitting he didn’t want to admit she was growing up. Deacon also aided Luca with his half-sister while on a patrol together.

So, with all that happening to him, what can Season 7 bring for Deacon?

What can happen to Deacon in SWAT Season 7?

SWAT was briefly canceled by CBS but brought back for a seventh and final season. Hopefully, work can begin as soon as the SAG strike is settled, which is still up in the air but means the season will have only 13 episodes.

That makes it difficult to fit more personal storylines in, yet it could be something for veteran Deacon to finally accept his time in the field is coming to an end. Deacon would be good to settle into a training position in the LAPD or even take over should Hicks decide to retire. It would also be good to see Deacon thinking of helping his family out more in a new position.

However it works out, Deacon will still be showing his command on SWAT even if he makes a move to his future to ensure the squad is always in the best of hands.

SWAT is available to stream on Paramount+.
