The leaves are changing, and the days are getting shorter as October goes along. While there are a few scatterings of TV crime shows on networks, most of the crime show fare is only on streaming or cable.

This week’s offerings include the returns of some fun British crime shows, a new true-crime series and two new entries in Hallmark’s popular movie mystery shows. Here are five TV crime shows to check out for Oct. 9-15 to while away the nights.

5 must-watch TV crime shows this week

Harry Wild

Jane Seymour is back in the second season of the quirky British mystery series. For those who missed Season 1, Harry (Seymour) is a retired English literature professor mugged in Dublin. Despite the objections of her policeman son, Harry recruits a former student (Rohan Nedd) and soon finds a career as a private eye.

Season 2 has Harry continuing on her investigations, which will include the murder of her ex, a village with secrets and a poisoning at a bachelorette party. Seymour has her usual charm, and Season 2 looks to continue the run of this fun dramedy.

Harry Wild Season 2 premieres on Monday, Oct. 9 on Acorn TV.

True Crime Story: Citizen Detective

Sundance TV expands the popular True Crime franchise in this new installment. This focuses on crimes through the eyes of the amateur sleuths who solved them. From discovering a heroin overdose was murder to bodies in the woods, these people solved crimes the cops couldn’t.

The series retells their stories with the people involved, showing how some of these cases aren’t as clear-cut as they seemed and intriguing twists. It looks to be another great entry in the Treu Crime Story franchise and some real-life mystery stories.

True Crime Story: Citizen Detective premieres on Thursday, Oct. 12 at 10/9c on Sundance TV, AMC+, and SundanceNow.

Annika Season 2

Nicola Walker is back in the second season of this British crime show. Once more, Annika Strandhed is investigating various murders around Scotland with a band of cops still getting used to working as a team. She also has to handle her tense relationship with her teenage daughter.

Season 2 will have her investigating a cop’s murder, a death at a research station, and Annika facing a cold case from the past. It also keeps the fun touch of Annika talking right to the camera to share observations and make this cop show different from others.

Annika Season 2 premieres on Sunday, Oct. 15 at 9/8c on PBS.

Curious Caterer: Fatal Vows

The first of two new Hallmark Movies & Mysteries movies, Nikki DeLoach returns as Goldy Berry, the single mom caterer who somehow keeps getting involved in murder cases. Andrew Walker is also back as her bantering detective aide, Tom Walker.

The new film has Goldy catering the wedding of Tom’s ex-girlfriend, only for the groom to be murdered and the bride kidnapped. Making it worse is Tom is framed for the crime, so Goldy has to race fast to clear his name in another fun entry in the series.

Curious Caterer: Fatal Vows premieres on Friday, Oct. 13 at 9/8c on Hallmark Moves & Mysteries.

A Zest For Death: A Hannah Swensen Mystery

Another Hallmark Movies & Mysteries series is back with Allison Sweeney reprising her role as Hannah Swensen, the bakery shop owner who can’t resist mixing it up with a murder mystery in her small town.

The new film has Hanna’s mom (Barbara Niven) discovering a dead body in a house. Hannah teams up with her detective friend Mike (Cameron Mathison) to find the truth in her usual fun style.

A Zest for Death: A Hannah Swensen Mystery airs on Wednesday, Oct. 11 at 7/6c on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries
