What’s next for Street in SWAT Season 7?
SWAT Season 6 had some nice growth for James “Jim” Street. So can SWAT Season 7 bring more changes for Alex Russell’s character?
Once the newbie on SWAT, Street has grown nicely as a cop and a leader. Season 6 opened with him thrown by the departure of on/off lover Chris Alonso, but Street took charge of mentoring her replacement, Zoe Powell. As the former “new guy” himself, Street was able to break Powell in for how SWAT operated.
While Hondo and Deacon were wary of Powell’s attitude, Street trusted her instincts and backed her up. He did give her the lowdown on how to handle things while dealing with his own problems.
Street got a big showcase in “Witness” when a child was abducted and brought up memories of Street’s own relationship with his drug-addict mother. His feelings clouded the case, but he still helped rescue the kid. It caused Street to realize he’d been judging the abducted kid’s mother by his own mom and how some people could change.
That was some great growth for Street, so what could Season 7 bring for him?
What could happen to Street in SWAT Season 7?
With SWAT surviving a brush with cancellation to get a 13-episode seventh (and final) season, there may not be as much time for personal storylines. However, it would be good to put a focus on how Street has gone from the team rookie to a fine officer.
Maybe it’s finally time Street gets a promotion, as he’s proven himself a capable leader. He and Powell will no doubt be handling their dynamic even if Street doesn’t seem inclined to make it romantic. It would be nice if there’s a return for Chris to settle their relationship once and for all.
Either way, it’s good to see how far Street has come on the SWAT team and hopefully, SWAT Season 7 finds himself rising up further as a sharp officer.
SWAT is available to stream on Paramount+.
