SWAT Season 6 saw a big change with the debut of new cop Zoe Powell. After being the rookie on the team, how will Anna Enger Ritch’s cop continue her run on the show in SWAT Season 7?
Having first appeared in Season 5, Zoe Powell officially became a member of 20-Squad in Season 6. It was obviously a big deal filling the shoes of the departed Chris Alonso, and Hondo and Deacon were wary of Zoe’s attitude and overeagerness. Having been the rookie on the team once, Street took charge, keeping an eye on her.
Powell did show her stuff helping track down Hondo in Thailand, although she ignored orders on another mission. She got good personal touches, such as blaming herself for a partner being shot. In “To Protect and Serve,” while doing a day in uniform patrol with Hondo, Powell admitted to having her doubts about being a cop after the 2020 protests. Powell fit in quickly with the team, although she was the one who had to break it to Tan that his wife was cheating on him.
A big revelation was when Powell reunited with a contact from when she went undercover in prison. She revealed to Street that she’d had a child when she was 15 and gave him up for adoption. She didn’t want to pursue it more, but Deacon gave her the information on her son with Zoe happy.
So, can SWAT Season 7 bring more changes for Zoe on SWAT and her personal life?
What can happen to Zoe in SWAT Season 7?
There were worries about SWAT being axed after the end of Season 6, but thankfully, it survived for a 13-episode final season. Zoe is hopefully now fully trusted by the team and more than able to hold her own. She and Street have a good bond, although it’s unsure if it will turn into anything romantic.
It would be good if we see Zoe contact her son, although a full reunion might be too tricky with her job. Season 6 showed Powell breaking in as a SWAT member, so hopefully, SWAT Season 7 can see her truly blossom, even in the final year for the show.
SWAT is available to stream on Paramount+.
