NBC’s new series The Irrational is certainly worth checking out. Where was this show filmed? Where do you need to go for all the filming locations?
When we find a TV series that we love, we want to know where it’s filmed. This gives us a chance to visit the filming locations and snap photos to save we’ve visited. It’s also a great way to see how certain cities are made to look like other locations.
The series itself is set in Virginia and the Washington D.C. area. Of course, we know that not many TV shows actually end up filming there. It’s just the perfect location when it comes to a show that involves the FBI or another government organization, and Marisa works for the FBI.
The Irrational filming location
So, where is the show filmed? Is it in another U.S. city?
This one is not a U.S.-filmed series. You’ll need to head north of the border to visit the filming locations for this one. Like many other TV shows, The Irrational films in Vancouver, Canada. This will be due to the costs of producing shows in Vancouver.
David Frankel and Todd A. Dos Reis both worked on the series as it filmed in Vancouver, and they spoke to NBC about the limitations and industry tricks needed to make the Canadian city look like Washington D.C. There were also limitations filming the university scenes as the team only had a day at a Vancouver university to do what was needed, with many of the interior shots done elsewhere.
Some of the sets are in the studio in Vancouver. When you see Alec’s office and Maahra’s apartment, they are done in the studio where the sets remain until the series comes to an end. And we’re hoping for this series to keep going after a great start.
The Irrational airs Mondays at 10/9c on NBC. Catch up the following day on Peacock.
