Gabi Mosely isn’t just the head of a PR firm looking for missing people on Found. She has a dark backstory of her own, but is that based on real life?
There are a few TV shows that are based on real life. We just have to look at Law & Order and how a lot of the storylines are ripped straight from the headlines. Some of them sound too crazy to be true, but truth really is wilder than fiction.
Now eyes are on the new NBC series, Found. The story follows Gabi Mosely, who runs a PR firm that helps the police to find missing people. In fact, in the most recent episode, a client reached out to them directly before the missing person was declared missing.
Gabi has her own story, though. She was one of the missing, and now we know that she has her former abductor chained up in her basement. Is this one of those stories that’s pure fiction, or is there truth to it?
Is Found based on a true story?
Gabi’s story is completely fictional. Of course, there are stories of girls being abducted, but the part of Gabi then going on to run a PR firm and kidnap her kidnapper isn’t based on a true story.
That being said, the firm that she runs is based on loose truth. There are firms like this in the world. People work with the police to find those who have gone missing. Many of them are run by former police officers or private investigators, while some are run by volunteers who want to make the world a safer place.
These firms will help police at the beginning. As the searches start to stall, the firms can be the reason why individuals end up found. The firms will keep working on the cases while the police end up with cold trails.
Found airs on Tuesdays at 10/9c on NBC. Catch up the following day on Peacock.
