If you haven’t heard about Bass Reeves, you’re probably not alone. Despite his track record of bringing law to a lawless land, Reeves is one of those historical figures who has been overlooked by history. That’s about to change, though.

Lawmen: Bass Reeves is a new series coming to Paramount+ this week. It follows the life of Bass Reeves, as he made it out of slavery and focused on building a family and a career for himself. We get to see how he became one of the first U.S. deputy marshals in the Wild West.

With this coming to Paramount+, you’re likely ready for the bad news that this isn’t a binge-watch series. Instead, it’s going to be released weekly. With eight episodes, you’ll want to make sure you get the release schedule noted down so you know when new episodes will come out and when the finale will air.

This is set to be a limited series, of sorts. If it is renewed, it will be an anthology series. The story of Bass Reeves will be told in full over the course of the eight episodes of this season.

Yes, the finale airs on Sunday, Dec. 17. This is assuming that Paramount+ doesn’t opt for a week off at some point. We don’t usually see that. It’s the premium cable networks like STARZ that puts a week off in the middle of a season. It wouldn’t make sense pushing this show back a week as that means the finale would air on Christmas Eve, and that isn’t great timing.
