After some back and forth, SWAT Season 7 was officially renewed. It’s the final season, and now we want to know when it will premiere.

For a short while, we thought that SWAT would end with Season 6. After fans rallied together, CBS reversed the decision and opted to renew the police drama for a seventh and final season.

Of course, we had hoped to see the show premiere in fall 2023. That hasn’t happened, and there’s more bad news. This isn’t a show coming back this month, and it won’t come back in 2023 at all. It’s not that CBS is holding back due to the live ratings. Instead, this is due to the strike action.

When will SWAT Season 7 premiere on CBS?

The bad news is that we don’t have a premiere date just yet. We don’t have any sort of idea when the show could premiere because of the strike action that’s still going on.

The WGA strike has come to an end. Writing for the seventh season has started, but production can’t start up just yet. The SAG-AFTRA strike is still going on, and that means all production and post-production can’t happen. So, the wait for SWAT Season 7 continues.

It doesn’t look like we’ll get the season in January 2023 like we hoped for. Instead, we’re looking at March 2023 at the earliest. As this show has its final season order, there is a chance that CBS will push the show to the late spring or early summer instead. There isn’t as much of a need for the show to wrap up in May like there is for some other shows. This could mean a later start date for the 13 episodes to air.

We’ll certainly keep an eye on the plans for the show. Hopefully, we don’t have to wait too long for the final season to start.

SWAT is available to stream on Paramount+.
