From the start of The Irrational Season 1, we’ve had a bombing storyline from Alec Mercer’s past. Will that wrap by the end of the first season?
The Irrational Season 1 has a seasonal storyline in the middle of all the individual cases. Marisa has been getting to the bottom of the bombing on the church that killed 13 people. She is a step closer with the new episode, where she learned that the timer was set for 60 seconds rather than 60 minutes.
Nobody was supposed to die. So, what went wrong? If she wants to get to the bottom of who is the bigger threat in this entire storyline, she’ll need to figure that out first.
The bombing story won’t go into The Irrational Season 2
As we suspected, The Irrational is going to wrap the bombing storyline of the season. Showrunner Arika Lisanne Mittman confirmed this with TVLine.
Mittman made it clear that this storyline is Alec’s origin story. This is the reason he ended up getting into behavioral science. This bombing made him the man that he is today, and that means it needs to be solved without being dragged out.
There will be a couple of episodes where the bombing is front and center of the story. This gives us the chance to learn more about the events that happened and how Alec was initially as he realized that he was the only survivor. We also hope that it will offer us a chance to see Alec remember more about the bombing, which could help Marisa and her team get to the bottom of it all.
What about a potential second season? Well, Mittman shares that there may be offshoots of the bombing story, but we’ll find out who orchestrated the plan.
The Irrational airs on Mondays at 10/9c on NBC. Catch up on Peacock the following day.
