Law & Order Season 23 is officially happening, but we have to wait for it. When will new episodes of the series air on NBC?
The Law & Order revival has been a huge success for NBC, so it was no surprise to see that Season 23 was picked up by NBC. The pickup did come with some bad news. The season would be slightly shorter and we wouldn’t see all of the characters in every episode. This is the case with all Dick Wolf shows on NBC except for Law & Order: Organized Crime.
That may all change, though. The series still hasn’t had a chance to premiere. We won’t see Law & Order Season 23 on NBC in November 2023. It’s not going to arrive in 2023 at all. When will we get a chance to watch the episodes?
When will Law & Order Season 23 premiere on NBC?
This delay wasn’t something that NBC wanted. When the fall schedule was announced in May, Law & Order was set to return on Thursdays to kick-off the night. However, plans had to change with the strike action, and some of that strike action is still going on at the time of writing this.
The WGA strike has ended, which means writing work can start. The SAG-AFTRA strike is still going on, so production can’t start just yet. Until production can start, it’s impossible to make a prediction on when the show could return. The earliest we’re looking at right now is March 2024.
This likely means a shorter season than initially expected. It could mean that all characters are in all episodes, though. The decision to not have some characters appear was a cost-cutting one. With a shorter season, there will be a lot of money saved.
Law & Order is available to stream on Peacock.
