The SAG-AFTRA strike is coming to an end, which means production for shows can start back up soon. When will NCIS Season 21 filming start?

There has been some good news in the entertainment industry. The actors strike has come to an end. While the deal needs to be ratified by multiple people, the strike action has ended and picket lines have closed. It means everyone can start looking at a potential return date to filming.

NCIS Season 21 will be among the first shows to return to filming, according to Deadline. The writers are already at work, and filming can start within five weeks of the writers room opening. That means that we could see filming start very soon.

When will NCIS Season 21 filming start?

There isn’t a set date for production to begin just yet. The Dick Wolf shows, such as the FBIs and the Law & Orders, are looking at starting up shortly after Thanksgiving. This is around the week commencing Sunday, Nov. 27.

It is possible that shows like NCIS could start around the same time. This will depend on whether there are enough scripts ready yet. However, Deadline does go on to say that NCIS is among the first wave of shows set to head back into production.

Filming won’t extend into the Christmas break. That was an idea floated out, but the SAG union got it into the strike contract that that wouldn’t happen. That means there will be a short pause in production around the usual time of year and then production can start back up in January 2024. Will there be a move to a six-day week? That is looking possible for comedies, but it’s not clear if it’s going to happen for dramas.

We are looking at a 13-episode season for NCIS Season 21 right now. That could potentially start in March 2024.
