SWAT Season 7 filming will be able to start up soon. Now eyes are on the number of episodes this final season will have due to the strike.
With the SAG-AFTRA strike at an end, it means that filming can start up on shows very soon. Not all will start up immediately, and Deadline didn’t mention that SWAT Season 7 would be one of the first to start up. That doesn’t mean it can’t do, but it might be one that is slightly delayed to get some of the other dramas up and running first.
Could this affect the episode count? When SWAT Season 7 was canceled and then un-canceled, it came with the news that it would be the final season with 13 episodes. Is there a chance that we’ll see the episode count drop to 10?
SWAT Season 7 potential episode count
It’s hard to say what CBS will decide to do. It is possible that this show will be held for the spring or summer. This time of year is one where the linear views drop, but there isn’t that much of a concern for SWAT as there is for other shows. This show has a final season order, meaning that the lower linear views don’t affect the chance of renewal or cancellation.
There’s also not the concern of it running into the summer and affecting the fall premieres of the next season. As it’s final-seasoned, it will be able to run into the summer without consequence.
With that in mind, we could still end up with a 13-episode season. It would just run into the summer months instead of wrapping up in May.
Deadline did report that a lot of shows are looking at 10 episodes, but CSI: Vegas and Ghosts were specifically mentioned in that when it came to CBS shows. Most other fall shows are still looking at 10 to 13 episodes, so we’ll probably see 13 episodes for SWAT Season 7.
SWAT is available to stream on Paramount+ and Netflix.
