When could Blue Bloods Season 14 start production?
It’s news TV fans have waited for as, after four long months; the SAG strike is over! This means TV shows can begin production again, and so fans of Blue Bloods are ready to see when Season 14 can finally air!
Normally, Blue Bloods would be ready for the November sweeps period right now. However, the show, like all network series, was affected by the double whammy of the Writers Guild of America going on strike in May and then the Screen Actors Guild following them in July.
While the WGA strike was settled in September, the SAG strike endured, with various negotiations falling through. Thankfully, after 118 days, the strike is over, so TV networks can start fast-tracking shows for the spring.
That includes Blue Bloods, as fans were happy the long-running CBS hit earned a renewal for a 14th season. It’s a big deal for the cast and crew, so fans are eager to know when the series can return. So what’s the deal on production?
When will Blue Bloods Season 14 film?
Obviously, the writers have been hard at work crafting plans for a 13-episode season, and the actors are raring to go. However, as Deadline points out, a regular network TV show requires roughly three to six weeks of prep and pre-production work per episode.
Luckily, Blue Bloods isn’t that complex a show, even with filming in New York City. So, it should be relatively easy to film and put together episodes. It likely won’t begin until after the coming Thanksgiving break as per strike deal rules, actors will get that off. So Blue Bloods would be able to start filming in late November or early December, a brief break for Christmas/New Year, and then back to work.
So, hopefully, the series can be back on CBS in March 2024. CBS will probably wait for a few episodes to be finished before setting an exact date but this means in early 2024, fans can finally enjoy Blue Bloods Season 14 and relish in more Reagan family dinners.
Blue Bloods is available to stream on Paramount+.
