It’s good news for TV fans as, at long last, the SAG strike is settled. With the WGA strike having already ended, this means production can begin on TV shows, including NCIS: Hawaii. But just when can fans expect episodes to air?

As one of CBS’s biggest hits, the long delay for new episodes of NCIS: Hawaii has been tricky. The series left off with Jane Tennant (Vanessa Lachey) handling a rough spy case. Season 3 will have LL Cool J joining the cast as his NCIS: Los Angeles character Sam Hanna.

So, the long delay from new episodes has been harder on fans. Thankfully, production can begin, but a question of just when and where. Luckily, it sounds like it won’t be too long.

When will NCIS: Hawaii Season 3 film?

Per Deadline, it’s expected that networks are going to be pushing hard for production on shows. A regular series would require roughly three to six weeks for prep and pre-production. For a show like NCIS: Hawaii, which has a lot of action in a more exotic locale it’s likely going to need a bit more time.

A key issue is that the Thanksgiving holiday is right around the corner and, per the strike deals, the networks can’t push for actors to work through the planned break. So the earliest NCIS: Hawaii can start filming is in late November or early December before another break for Christmas and New Year.

This means that it’s unlikely NCIS: Hawaii Season 3 can hit CBS until March 2024. The network will probably wait to have a few episodes in the can before setting an exact return date.

The new season is expected to have 13 episodes, so while it’s a shorter run, at least fans can be happy there will be fresh episodes of NCIS: Hawaii in early 2024 after all.

NCIS: Hawaii is streaming on Paramount+.
