Shantel VanSanten will get more screentime in the FBI universe but not in the flagship series. She’s joining FBI: Most Wanted.

When we heard that Alexa Davalos was leaving FBI: Most Wanted after Season 4 we were certainly disappointed. It’s another change to the cast, which only has two original cast members left and is only going into its fifth season.

The good news is that we won’t have to get to know somebody completely new. We’re getting someone from FBI to join the Fugitive Task Force, according to Deadline.

Agent Nina Chase is joining the team in FBI: Most Wanted Season 5

Shantel VanSanten is certainly an actress to watch out for. She’s proven herself in One Tree HillFor All Mankind, and the flagship FBI series. In fact, VanSanten’s Nina Chase came into the story to fill the gap left by Maggie recovering from the sarin gas attack. We always knew it was temporary, but part of us wanted to see Nina become a full-time member of the team.

That didn’t happen, with Nina finding out that she was pregnant and moving out of the field. Now that she’s had her baby, it looks like it’s time for her to get back in the field. This could be a great chance to see Nina and Scola working together to raise their son as they both take on some dangerous cases.

It’s not clear exactly when VanSanten will come into FBI: Most Wanted Season 5, but it’s likely in the premiere episode as we know the Season 4 finale was the last we saw Davalos’s Kristen Gaines. At least we don’t need a lot of time to get to know who Nina is as the flagship series has covered that. If you don’t want to watch the flagship series, now is the time to play catchup.

FBI: Most Wanted is available to stream on Paramount+.
