With the long-awaited strikes over, it’s finally time for the Law & Order shows to get back on track. So when can Law & Order: Organized Crime Season 4 begin filming? Here’s what we know

An ironic touch of the WGA and SAG strikes is that, unlike other shows, Law & Order: Organized Crime was not overly delayed. That’s because NBC had already announced back in May that Season 4 wouldn’t premiere until early 2024 for a 13-episode run.

It appeared there were issues, including a showrunner turnover and NBC wanting to curtail the costs of having three Law & Order shows going at once. As it turns out, this worked out for the series as it means, unlike its counterparts, it didn’t lose half a season but can run as planned.

Season 3 ended on a dramatic note as Whalen died from injuries in a shooting, which hit Jet hard. Stabler and Benson had a short talk before Stabler accepted a new assignment that looked to last a while.

That was a good way to leave off and make Season 4 a more dramatic turn for the series. But when can it come out?

When will Law & Order: Organized Crime Season 4 start production?

John Shiban will now be the showrunner, with the amazing idea he’s the seventh person in that position since the series premiered in 2021. There’s no word yet on whether the show will continue the idea of an overall story arc over the season or make it more procedural episodes.

Despite Brent Antonello not returning, there’s no indication yet of any big cast changes. Christopher Meloni, Ainsley Sieger, and Danielle Monee Truitt are all expected to return. They may add another few actors to the cast, but as of yet, there is no word on who.

Production should be beginning soon, with Deadline saying the other two Law & Order shows are beginning production in late November, so Organized Crime should follow suit. Unless NBC suddenly decides to hold the show off until the fall of 2024, which is a possibility, but again, no word on that.

So for now, expect Law & Order: Organized Crime Season 4 to begin production before the end of 2023 with an eye to a 13-episode run starting next year, even if a lot of it is up in the air.
